the most beautiful thing today

Tuesday, March 14th, 2006

was when i sat in my room in the dark listening to music and the lightning illuminated everything. it colours everything a bright white, washes away the differences and shows the similiarities in everything, the essence of existence.

so i tell you, six miles ain’t that far

Monday, March 13th, 2006

the weather was absolutely beautiful on saturday. i ran six miles, best run in a long while. and then good food and good friends. that was my good shit on saturday. need to run again on tuesday, but i don’t know if weather will cooperate. maybe tomorrow, but i’m staying up too late. oh well, i’ll just eat thin mints. best girl scout cookie ever.

sunday, sat around. normally i’d be angry with myself for that. but. today was different. sometimes nothing is the best form of something. i finally (with help) wrote something i should have written. AGES AGO. i will send it tomorrow. so it is good. all good.

and now it’s time for a new feature, optimism

Friday, March 10th, 2006

(at least) one positive thing a day. and i have to describe it in reasonable detail.

they say optimists live longer (update, here’s a paper, Br J Health Psychol. 2006 Feb;11(Pt 1):71-84)

i just had a negative post. so let’s turn it around.

yesterday–perfect score on chemistry quiz! moohaha. it’s only ten points but i barely studied too. it took me three tries to learn organic chemistry. it’s all about electrons. ALWAYS ELECTRONS. DAMN YOU ELECTRONS I HAVE CONQUERED YOU.

today–definitely volunteering in the morning. it’s really hard to get eighth graders to sing. they’re so embarrassed. then again, so are we. or at least, so am i. the song was kinda strange and also difficult.

oh yeah, today was a clear confirmation that free learning does not work straight up. but maybe you have to start younger than eighth grade.
