shields down

Friday, March 28th, 2008

normally i’m the one who’s like whatever, shields down (or at least, i have been for the last two months). you know, and i’ll tell you everything about myself. but yesterday and today, i just didn’t feel that way.

i wandered into pho hoa at lunch. it was a dreary day, it rained. i had been saving these smarties for a rainy day. it rained today, so i ate some of them, actually too many of them, like half of one of those big tubes that you can’t find here. damn you nestle.

i was just so sleepy. i went home and slept for four hours instead of going to the gym. rainy days here do that to me. not like rainy, stormy days in oklahoma, those days i miss so dearly. those days that encourage daydreaming instead of depression.

then i put on a tie. first time wearing a tie in two years. it got me to do work. i find that i cannot do work unless i wear pants or a tie.

rewatch

so in preparation for the return of how i met your mother episodes i’ve been watching the earlier seasons, and i keep fixating on this episode from the first season about milk. and making mistakes. i don’t think i’ve been making enough mistakes in my life. part of it is the way i was raised. but i’m beginning to get a greater sense of all the uncertainty in life. and maybe i should drink the sour milk, and touch the burninating plate. just to make sure it’s really sour, and that the plate is really hot.

i have a lot of work to do. a lot of idiotic mistakes to make, too.

things i miss about oklahoma

Wednesday, March 19th, 2008

here they are

  • i miss how the parks were open late.
  • i miss 60 degree weather in winter.
  • i miss driving in the middle of nowhere in the middle of the night and the associated whoosh through my hair when i’ve got the windows open.
  • i miss my parents.
  • i miss smiles from random people.
  • i miss the clean air.
  • i miss looking through old family photos.

wait, how many of these things are actually associated with only oklahoma?

in completely unrelated news, this is what made me think about it. football, rain, and rivers cuomo. oh yeah, and a nomahhhhhhhh mention, just in time for opening day. not bad.
