resolutions! again!

Sunday, December 31st, 2006

so um this year.

let’s go back and look at a few of my old resolutions first, only new year’s though

2006
another trip over spring break–DONE!
ethical living and environmentalism–well, it’s a start. i take care of a lot of things but maybe i should start some bigger initiatives. i do pick up random trash still, just not all the time. i avoid new plastic bags like the plague and still believe we need a bag tax to get people to stop using them.

2005
none

2004
php and tetris? well sort of. i got the tetris part, that’s for freaking sure.

i guess i never make resolutions.

i think this year i need to get into medical school. and i need to find a real backup plan just in case, as in not just talking about finding a plan but really finding it. and really, to develop my photography skill. i may or may not be good at it, because i might just get lucky when i take good pictures. there is only one way to find out. most importantly, meet and really get to know more people, as in see them more than once a month or something. actually i have been working on this for a while. and this is the most likely of my resolutions to be successful. as i’ve said before this is just so hard outside of my work environment.

boxing day dinner

was way better than christmas dinner, that’s for sure.

i am actually struggling to figure out what i am doing here now haha.

spirit

Monday, December 25th, 2006

i finished that murakami novel. it reminds me of being sleepy all the time, of reaching for something that is not quite there, or for something behind a window that you can never go around. yes, an endless toy store window. sort of. it is not triumphant nor completely conclusive in the end, and as a result it sucked the spirit out of me i think. perhaps we are better off not being too deep. in a strange way it reminds me of ellison’s invisible man.

i think i need to read it again in a month. perhaps it was the pace with which i read it–i finished it in just three days, and the first day i only read fifty pages of it or so. between the six-and-a-half hour flight and the uneventful christmas night, i cleaned up the other 550 pages.

i think, when we eat real food tomorrow, i will feel a bit better haha.
