even more like the united states.

this is one of the few places i would not like to play in the rain at. it is just too polluted. i don’t want my skin to burn off or anything. once on the subway there was this clearly chinese-american guy who said “once i went walking in the rain, and when i got back i was like, ‘man that fucking burns!’”

at mcdonalds in plaza hollywood near the chi lin nunnery. (in chinese)
me: hi, i’d like a sundae.
him: wouldyoulikefrieswiththatforonlyfivedollars?
me: huh?
him: wouldyoulikefrieswiththatforonlyfivedollars?
me: um, no. that wouldn’t make any sense.

it doesn’t matter where you get your inspiration, as long as you have it.

change

ads are getting smarter. between wan chai and causeway bay on mtr you can look out the window and see a sort of flip book budweiser ad.

earlier that day they were filming tvb stuff at the delifrance i was eating at, but i didn’t get on camera. we did snap some pictures of the stars, though. we noticed it on the way to the immigration tower, so we looked over the railing on the footbridge to see what was going on. then some gross sweaty old guy brushed against me. people in hong kong need to um stay clean. it is very hot here so people should try to be sanitary. that’s why the government puts up all those ads about preventing dengue fever, hepatitis, washing your hands, and so on.

but people everywhere are stuck in their ways sometimes. it is the younger generation that has to bring about the changes. one day i have a feeling i will get stuck too.
