i saw a funny thing in the tech. people were complaining about the impending “homogenization” of mit culture, due to the slow death of dorm and frat rushes. i wonder if these people have noticed that we’re already all homogenized.

in any case, even with the homogenization, people who should be friends will find each other. it’s like we’re all becoming so pathetic that we need a “special week” to meet people. what the fuck happened to all your social skills?

i need to become less bitter. this will happen over spring break when all the stress relieves itself.

i’ve become one of those css zealots. every time i see a table based layout i think about how to remake it.

if you’re going to do something, do it right. i guess that explains why i don’t do very much.

there is nothing to say anymore. mit has drained me of purpose and thought for the time being. all i can think about is elution. lots and lots of elution.

american culture is weird because it values hard work for money. most cultures value hard work for a greater end. (you know, saving the world, creating a work of art, taking care of family, that sort of thing.) unfortunately as the united states spreads its culture everywhere these other cultures turn to shit too. the scary and wonderful thing about the united states is its homogenization of culture. it’s good to live together but we all become one big blob, hungry for money, and working hard, and dying. all for what?

i notice this useless work syndrome the most when i think about branding. branding is the force that makes us pay extra money for a useless object. this in turn makes us work harder for no reason.

i notice this a lot at mit in general. we’re all so goal-oriented it’s sick. nobody enjoys the journey. and nobody knows where the fuck they’re going, except for that place with a high-paying job and a mansion. nobody can save the world alone. and nobody can save the world if all he or she thinks about is cold, hard cash.
